It is unacceptable that these caregivers continue to face threats of violence while fulfilling their mission to heal and help others.

Ensuring a safe, secure work environment for every healthcare worker must be a national imperative. Acts of violence against medical staff not only endanger their physical and emotional well-being but also disrupt clinical operations, compromise patient outcomes, and exacerbate ongoing staffing shortages. The safety of our workforce directly impacts the quality and continuity of care patients receive.

That is why 3B Healthcare strongly supports the Save Healthcare Workers Act (H.R. 3178 / S.1600), introduced by Senators Cindy Hyde-Smith and Angus King and Representatives Madeleine Dean and Mariannette Miller-Meeks. This bipartisan legislation would classify assaults on hospital staff as a federal crime—marking a critical step forward in deterring violent behavior and protecting the caregivers our healthcare system depends on.

While hospitals and staffing agencies like ours have implemented protocols to prevent workplace violence, legislative support is essential to reinforce those efforts. The Save Healthcare Workers Act would provide a clear federal mandate, demonstrating that violence against healthcare workers will not be tolerated.

We urge Congress to swiftly pass this vital legislation and take decisive action to safeguard the professionals who dedicate their lives to healing others.
